The End...Thanks for the memories!!!

My favorite discovery in this learning journey was the online productivity applications such as Google Docs and ZoHo writer. I think that these are great applications that can be used in so many ways.

I am always searching for new and exciting things, so this program helped in that quest!!

Yes, I would particiapate in another program! This program was a great learning experience!

LibriVox

Being an avid user of NetLibrary, I can't say that I would use LibriVox all that much. However, I do think that it is a great site for those who do not have access to NetLibrary.

You Tube

I have already had many experiences with You Tube. I think that the most useful experience I had was with a class I took. The professor posted her leture onto You Tube so the class could watch it. It was very helpful for the visual learners (like myself). I can think of many applications with teaching that could be useful in library settings.

Web 2.0 Awards

I really think that this list can be a useful tool. I saved it to my favorites and I will probably bookmark it in delicious. If I ever have any ideas about using 2.0 I will definitely refer to this list.

OOPS

I guess I hit the publish button on Zo Ho too many times!!! It worked. I really like that tool! Did I say that already? hee hee

Okay, so I'm trying to publish this with the ZoHo writer.  I think that this is a GREAT tool!.  I'm really glad to learn about this.  I will definitely use this tool myself and recommend it to patrons.

CTLS favorite things Wiki

So I did it!!! I'm just glad I was able to do it. Thanks Rose!!! It was pretty complicated. I can't say that this was my favorite exercise in this program. I think it was prettty close to the bottom.

Library Wiki

Our library has been doing a wiki for some time now, so it was no surprise to me the how they work. We have been able to have several book clubs at one time on the wiki. It is a great tool to encourage patron participation.

Library 2.0

I read an article titled Library 2.0 Means Better Service. (google Library 2.0) I especially enjoyed the part where the author discusses the benefit of encouraging user participation in the library. This is always something that we strive for in public libraries. She encourages teen library boards using blogs, people posting reader reviews, and users being able to make comments on the card catalog. While everything the author writes about may not be applicable in every situation, the article certainly gives very many good ideas.

Technorati

I can't say that anything surprised me when searching through this website. I had no idea what to look for. I will say that it was interesting to see that many of the top blogs were written by businesses. I guess they're really trying to capitalize on this form of marketing.

De.l.icio.us

De.l.icio.us seems like a very useful tool to use for the libary. I especially like the tags that lead someone directly to a subject that they are looking for. I think this is a great application for the library!

Online gaming

I am a fanatic of online games. I play spider solitaire like it's going out of style. I also love to play the online spades. Great game!!!

Social Networking

I have already enjoyed the social networking sites. I don't feel comfortable sharing my profile, because I prefer to keep my business and personal life seperate.

Google Chat

I have to say I was pretty disappointed with Google Talk. It did not keep up at all. There were lags and several technical issues. I have always used Windows Messenger to chat with my husband when he's overseas. It has never caused me any issues. I will probably continue to use it after this test.

I like the FD Toys gadget in Flickr. We can make tons of READ pictures for the library.!!

Flickr gadgets

I'm not really that interested in this part of flickr. I think that the first part of flickr is a good idea for the library. There are many ways to use it. I can't think of many ways to use the other gadgets though. I guess the one that intrigues me is the flickr color pickr. It looks like it could be fun.

Library almost done!!!

Flickr

Okay, so here I am blogging about when I'm not sure if it is attached to this post. I hope so. I am going to tell you about it anyways. Our new library is almost done and ready to move in. This is going to be such a great thing for the staff and especially the community. I am so excited to open.

RSS Feed

Here are some of the RSS feeds I subscribe to.

Being a children's librarian, I am always looking for new ideas. This feed has some good ideas for library storytimes.

I am currently in a MLS program at San Jose State University and find their RSS feed to be helpful for current library science information.

This is just a general library feed that has a lot of pertinent information for librarians.

Google-My new friend

I have always loved Google. It's wonderful to be able to type whatever you can think of in, and see what comes up. I didn't realize there was so much more to Google than just that. The Google reader is something that I just learned about. It's great to have something keep up with what's new what you've read and what you haven't. I also just found Google Scholar. This feature is very helpful for locating articles for obscure topics.
Okay, so here's my blog. I am extremely new to blogging so bare with me. What I find the hardest about life long learning is beginning with an end in mind. I have a lot of great ideas, but they're just that--ideas. They don't usually have an end in mind.
Of course, the easiest step to lifelong learning is playing. I love to play!!! I am a very happy go lucky person and love life!!!
